What will I study?

This is an exciting opportunity to obtain an introduction in a number of different trades – bricklaying, carpentry, painting and decorating and plastering. This initial part of the programme lasts for 10 weeks, and it will provide you with the necessary practical skills and knowledge to progress on to employment.

There are three core modules that are common to all of the trades relating to; effective communication with others, building methods and safe working practices. You will then undertake a further five modules that are trade specific. The assessment for these qualifications is ongoing throughout the course, to monitor your skills and understanding.

You will have the chance to work in one of these specialist trades for the remainder of the year to gain a full Level 2 qualification. We offer superb, industry standard facilities with state-of-the-art workshops and modern classrooms, all of which are fitted with interactive white boards.

Assessment is progressive and is based on proving competence in a range of practical and theoretical tasks. Specialist careers advice will be available from our staff throughout your course.

Past students say that they have enjoyed the experience and generally move on to further training or in to a job within the construction industry.

What do I need to get on to the course?
